Governor Jeb Bush Announced as Keynote Speaker for
Inaugural Education Policy Summit
AUSTIN, TX – On February 26, 2013, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush will serve as the keynote speaker for the Texas Business Leadership Council’s (TBLC) inaugural Education Policy Summit focusing on public and higher education issues.
The TBLC is the only statewide CEO-based business organization in Texas, and is committed to engaging business and community leaders on the critical issues that will play a part in the future of the Texas economy. Through this important event, the TBLC will provide an informative, executive-level discussion on education policy issues to an audience of TBLC members, elected officials, and academic, business, and community leaders.
“Our goal is to provide clear data and positive ideas on how to address increasing post-secondary success so that Texas will remain globally competitive. We will discuss policy recommendations and review practical policy reforms underway that address pathways to excellence in our K-12 system that lead to career and college readiness,” said Jodie L. Jiles, Chairman of the TBLC. “Our state must focus on increasing the number of Texans who receive a credential of value that provides them with opportunity to succeed.”
The summit will also feature Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst, Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives Joe Straus, George P. Bush, and other national and statewide education experts. All summit events will take place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Austin, Texas.
