Trio of Education Bills Critical for a More Globally Competitive Texas

AUSTIN – Yesterday evening the Senate Committee on Education K-16 heard three key bills addressing critical challenges that must pass if we are to continue building a more globally competitive Texas – with a workforce who have the skills for the jobs of the 21st century.

The bills, Senate Bill 2252 by Chairman Brandon Creighton (Conroe) relates to measures to support kindergarten readiness and early childhood literacy and numeracy skills; Senate Bill 2253, also by Chairman Creighton, relates to the preparation and certification of public school educators; and Senate Bill 1962 by Sen. Paul Bettencourt (Houston) relates to public school accountability.
