AUSTIN – Today the Senate Committee on Water, Agriculture, and Rural Affairs voted unanimously to approve Senate Bill 7 (SB 7), relating to the oversight and financing of certain water infrastructure matters under the jurisdiction of the Texas Water Development Board. Texas Business Leadership Council President Justin Yancy issued the following statement of support for the legislation:
“If Texas is to remain, and become more, globally competitive, now is the time for the legislature to take decisive action on our water supply challenges. This Legislature has the opportunity to make a generational investment that will protect our economic future by allocating $5 billion to jumpstart critical water projects and by asking voters to approve a constitutional amendment to fund a dedicated, sustainable revenue source to provide $1 billion annually to ensure long-term stability…”
